![]() When you’re standing on a beach, you get cold. In ARK, your hunger level and your thirst level are always falling (you can monitor their levels on the inventory screen). Right away, you have two things to worry about: the fact that you’re naked, and the fact that you’re slowly starving. That means avoiding most other living creatures for a little while. I know you’re anxious to get to the dinos, but the first thing you need to do is survive. If you get a notification that you’ve leveled up before we get there in the tutorial, ignore it … or just skip to the relevant section. It’s not necessarily important to worry too much about this at first (and it’ll be addressed by the end of this tutorial guide). Quick side note: As you play through the first bits of the game, you’ll level up. When you’re holding a melee weapon, the left trigger doesn’t do crap.If you’re unarmed, it’ll throw a punch, if you have a weapon, RT will swing it. You’ll want to start in a temperate climate alongside plenty of friendly, stupid herbivores. The game is very clear about which sections are most difficult, so you should pay attention. You need to figure out specifically what ARK wants of you. There is absolutely no tutorial, so you’re forced to figure out not only the controls themselves, but the rules of the world itself. At the beginning, ARK: Survival Evolved is pretty merciless.
